Frugal Halloween Decorating Ideas with Black Construction Paper

Using black paint is an easy and inexpensive way to create an appropriately spooky Halloween atmosphere.  Black construction paper provides another way to create low-cost but high-impact Halloween decorations.  Here are some ideas to get you started:
  • Cover your windows (including any windows on your front door) with black construction paper that's been cut into a devilish design. Whether you choose witches brewing up some evil, ghosts or something similarly spooky, at night when the lights are on inside, your decoration will look hauntingly terrific.
  • Hang black witch, cat, bat, raven and ghost silhouettes made of black paper on your windows to increase the eerie ambience for those passing by.  You can find examples and templates here.
  • Or frame the spooky silhouettes and hang them on the wall.
  • Cut out silhouettes of a cat chasing a mouse and tape them to the baseboards.  In flickering candlelight, it will look very real.
